The ROI Method
The metric most video agencies refuse to talk about.
Most video agencies sell production. Then they ghost on the only question your CFO actually cares about: did it work?We answer that question on day one, by wiring attribution into the campaign before we shoot a single frame.
Why it matters
Views are vanity. Pipeline is oxygen.
You don't need another agency telling you a video got 40,000 impressions. You need to know which viewers acted on it, what they did next, and how much revenue trailed behind it.
That's what our ROI Method delivers: a continuous loop where attribution feeds strategy, strategy drives production, and production gets measured back to dollars.
The Revenue Engine
One loop. Every pass gets smarter.
Strategy sets the target. Creation builds the content. Tracking ties it to pipeline. Optimization feeds what we learned back into the next sprint. Optimization to strategy is the handoff most agencies skip, and it's where the compounding happens.
A strategic framework that connects video content directly to pipeline and revenue, not vanity metrics.
01
Strategy
Goals, audience, buyer-journey mapping, ROI forecast.
02
Creation
Scripting, coaching, multi-camera production, editing.
03
Tracking
KPIs, engagement analytics, revenue attribution.
04
Optimization
Monthly reporting, content refinement, scaling what works.
Four pillars
How attribution actually works.
Architecture
We install a tracking layer at the point of capture, wiring in UTM conventions, event names, embed wrappers, and channel-specific tags, so every view, click, and watch-time signal is consistently named and routed.
Conversion Tracking
Every video carries its own tracking. When a viewer clicks through, books a call, or fills a form, the source is stamped on that conversion, and where you run a CRM, it arrives with the lead.
Attribution Model
We layer video reporting onto the attribution you already trust. Which content influences pipeline, how warmed traffic performs against cold, what video contributed this month. In real dollars.
Monthly Reporting
A monthly report that reads like a flight log: top-performing assets, pipeline influenced, revenue tied to video, and a recommended content sprint for the next 30 days.
The install
How the tracking actually gets installed.
Video gets watched in two places: on your website and away from it. We track both, we prove the tracking works before we trust it, and we read the same reports every month. Here is the method, step by step.
- 01
Access, not passwords
You add us as an admin on Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics 4. We send plain, unbranded step-by-step guides for each, so whoever runs your website can do it in a few minutes without a call. If you don't have either account yet, we set them up.
- 02
Off-site: UTM links tagged by funnel stage
Every video we publish away from your site (LinkedIn, YouTube, email, sales outreach) gets its own UTM link. The campaign is tagged by buyer-journey stage (awareness, consideration, decision) and the content parameter names the video, so when a viewer lands on your site we know which video sent them and where they were in the journey.
- 03
On-site: a pre-built Tag Manager container
For videos on your own pages we import a pre-built Google Tag Manager container: the tags, triggers and variables are already wired. It fires a video event at start, at progress milestones, and at completion, for each video by title. YouTube embeds track out of the box; Vimeo, Wistia, SproutVideo and videos uploaded directly to your site get an add-on container. Once we have access, this is a five-minute job.
- 04
Your goal, tracked alongside
The same container records your conversion event (a form submitted, a call booked, a lead created) in Google Analytics 4 next to the video events. That's the join that makes attribution possible: the same person, watched a video, then converted.
- 05
Proven before trusted
Before anything goes live we run Tag Manager in preview, play a video past the halfway mark, and watch the milestones fire in the debug panel. Then we confirm they arrive in GA4 Realtime. If a number ever shows up in your report, it has been tested end to end.
- 06
Three reports, built once, read monthly
In GA4 we build three segment-overlap explorations: On-site video conversions (watched on your site and converted), Off-site video conversions (arrived from a stage-tagged video link and converted), and Any-video conversions (either path). Each one breaks down by video title, so you see which videos are producing leads, not just views. On the first of each month we pull the same three numbers per video: starts, 50 percent reached, completes. Falling completes on rising starts means the content loses people. Falling starts means the page or thumbnail does.
This is the Film & Content tracking method, the same one behind the case studies on this site. Maverick installs it on every engagement, including the $995 Launch Pack.
The pedigree
Not a method we invented last quarter.
The ROI Method comes from our partner Film & Content, with 15+ years proving video ROI for brands including Adidas, Nike, BMW, Shell, Unilever, Samsung, and HSBC. Maverick flies that methodology for mid-market teams.
